19 Prohibitions for Concrete Pumping Operations

1. The pumping equipment should be placed at a certain distance from the edge of the excavation pit.

2. When the wind speed exceeds Level 6 or higher, concrete pump trucks must not use their boom arms. In hot weather, pipelines should be covered with wet burlap sacks or warm straw mats.

3. The pipeline layout for horizontal pumping should be reasonable, and the pipelines and their supports must be securely and reliably fastened. Pipeline joints must be sealed reliably.

4. The particle size of sand and gravel, the grade of cement, and the mix proportions shall meet the pumpability requirements of the concrete pump. During pumping, the material in the hopper should be kept above the height of the suction inlet to prevent air from being drawn in and causing injury.

5. It is strictly prohibited to connect vertical pipes directly to the pump outlet. Instead, a horizontal pipe with a length of at least 10 meters should be installed at the upstream end of the vertically mounted pipe. A check valve must be installed near the pump on the horizontal pipe. When laying pipes that slope downward, a section of horizontal pipe should be installed at the lower end, with a length at least five times the vertical height difference. Otherwise, measures such as using bends may be necessary to increase resistance. If the slope is steep, an air-release valve should be installed at the upper end of the slope when needed to facilitate air venting.

6. The parking brake and locking brake of the pumping equipment should be used simultaneously, and the tires should be securely chocked. The cooling water supply must be normal, the water tank should be fully filled with clean water, the hopper should be free of any debris, and all lubrication points should be properly lubricated.

7. Prepare the cleaning pipes, cleaning supplies, ball catchers, and related equipment. Before operating the concrete pump, the pipeline must first be lubricated with cement mortar prepared according to the specified mix ratio. Unauthorized personnel must stay away from the pipeline.

8. The support legs must be fully extended and securely braced before the boom can be activated. The boom may only be rotated once it has been lifted clear of the support structure. When extending the boom, proceed in a sequential manner. It is strictly prohibited to use the boom for lifting or dragging objects.

9. When the boom is fully extended and securely supported, moving the vehicle is strictly prohibited. If it becomes necessary to move the vehicle during operation, the upper section of the boom must be folded and secured, and the vehicle should be moved at a speed not exceeding 10 km/h. The boom must not be fitted with piping exceeding the specified diameter, and any installed hoses must be equipped with anti-disconnection safety straps.

10. All instruments and indicator lights should be monitored at all times, and any abnormalities detected should be promptly adjusted or addressed. If the delivery pipeline becomes blocked, reverse pumping should be performed to return the concrete to the hopper; if necessary, the pipeline should be dismantled to remove the blockage.

11. Pumping operations should be carried out continuously. If a pause is necessary, the pump should be run for 5 to 10 minutes (3 to 5 minutes in winter) before resuming pumping. If pumping is stopped for an extended period and then resumed, the pump should first be reversed for one or two cycles, and then switched back to forward pumping to feed the concrete. During pumping, the hopper should always maintain a certain amount of concrete; do not allow it to become empty.

12. All operating switches, adjustment handles, handwheels, control levers, valves, and other similar components in each part shall be returned to their original positions. The hydraulic system shall be relieved of pressure.

13. Move the pistons on both sides into the cleaning chamber and apply lubricant.

14. The water tank should always be kept full of clean water. If the water becomes cloudy and contains a significant amount of sand particles, it should be promptly inspected and addressed.

15. All bolts on the pumping equipment should be securely tightened, pipeline joints should be tightly sealed, and protective devices should be complete and reliable.

16. All control switches, high-speed handles, handwheels, control levers, valves, and other components in various parts shall be in the correct positions. The hydraulic system shall operate normally without any leaks.

17. When the pumping system is under pressure, no delivery pipes or hydraulic lines shall be opened. The safety valves of the hydraulic system must not be adjusted arbitrarily, and the accumulator may only be filled with nitrogen gas.

18. After operation of the concrete delivery pump, all concrete must be discharged from both the hopper and the pipelines. Then, the concrete pump machine, hopper, and pipelines should be thoroughly cleaned. When using compressed air to flush the pipelines, no personnel shall stand within 10 meters of the pipeline outlet. Additionally, materials such as metal mesh baskets should be used to collect any foam rubber and sand/gravel particles that are flushed out.

19. It is strictly prohibited to use compressed air to flush the fabric boom piping. The folding and retraction of the fabric boom must be carried out in a sequential manner.
